I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Madras. I earned my B.Tech from JNTU Hyderabad (2013), MS and PhD (dual degree) from IIT Madras (2019). I worked as a postdoc at ETH Zurich, Switzerland (2019–2023) with Prof. em. Dimos Poulikakos and at UC Berkeley, USA (2024) with Prof. Thomas M. Schutzius before joining IITM as faculty.
My research domain is surface science and engineering at the micro and nano scale. This typically involves interfacial interactions between solid, liquid, and vapor (except vapor–vapor interactions). Inspired by nature, micro/nano surface texturing enables artificial manipulation of these interactions, producing remarkable macro-scale effects impacting energy production, health care, droplet computing, chemical synthesis, and beyond. Focused research in this area provides practical solutions to many challenging problems.
